  • What COVID-19 safety measures are still in place?
Although most legal COVID restrictions have now been removed in hospitality venues, for the safety of our team and customers the following safety measures are still in place: We will be providing table service to avoid queues at the bar. We will be regularly be cleaning and sanitising our board games to ensure we maintain good hygiene standard along with maintaining our board games (replacing games, soggy cards from spillages & general wear over time) Hand sanitiser will still be provided on every table to use before you play and eat.
  • Do I have to book in advance?
Booking ahead isn’t always necessary - if you just turn up during opening hours we’ll offer you a table if we have one available. However, we do get very busy, especially at the weekends, and we don’t have any tables set aside for walk-ins, so we would strongly recommend booking in advance to be on the safe side.
  • Is Socialdice Board Game Café accessible for those with mobility issues?
Yes, the whole venue only ground floor, it is step-free and on a level threshold. There is a disabled/ gender-neutral loo towards the back of the premises. The single door at the front of the venue is not power-assisted, but our team are on hand to help if needed. If someone in your group has specific mobility requirements, please let us know in the booking comments when you make a reservation so we can seat you in the most suitable area.
  • Is Socialdice dog friendly?
Yes we are! Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the premises at all times.
  • Are children welcome at Socialdice?
Yes absolutely! Children of all ages are very welcome at Socialdice, up until 9pm when under-18s need to leave the premises under the terms of our alcohol licence. Under-12s must be accompanied by an adult when they visit, but ages 12 and over can visit unsupervised up to 7pm.
  • Do I have to pay the cover charge if I’m not playing games?
It depends on the time you visit. Before 6pm on weekdays you can use Socialdice as a regular café or bar and just come in to eat and drink. After 6pm and all day at the weekend, the cover charge applies to everyone who visits, regardless of whether or not they are playing. This helps to ensure that Socialdice remains a specialist gaming venue.
  • Can I bring my own games to play?
Yes you can, and if you’re here before 6pm on a weekday and exclusively play your own games, you don’t need to pay the cover charge. However, the rules above still apply if you’re here after 6pm or at the weekend, so you’ll need to pay the cover charge even if you’re not using our library.
  • Can I bring my own food & drink?
Only in very specific circumstances. You’re welcome to bring a cake if you’re here to celebrate a birthday, and we’re happy to look after it behind the bar and bring it out with candles at the appropriate point. We also allow people with food allergies to bring their own food if we’re unable to cater for their needs. (Please let us know when making a booking over the phone or in the comments section when booking online) Apart from those exceptions, only food and drink purchased from us may be consumed on the premises.
  • Can I turn up by myself and find people to play with?
We run our regular Social Dicebreakers! Which is our social gamers event where board game lovers and newbies join as individuals to have an evening of making new friends, enjoy tasty food, drinks while learning some new board games from our collection!
